By far my favorite everyday look has to be “Sporty.” Growing up as a “Tomboy,” playing all the sports my mother could get me enrolled in, and having no care in the world for the color pink; keeping up the sporty look was definitely not an issue. For a while I felt uncomfortable in my own skin. The sporty look was something that I could easily identify with and no doubt that all the “sport like” options are super comfortable. Because I played sports, I developed a love for shoes really early. You were not going to have a flyer pair of cleats then mine, no sir! These days you can’t even go to the nearest shopping center without seeing a black pair of tights and some comfortable Nikes in LA. People really believe that we only have workout clothes in our closets…shame. As I grew older, I learned how to pair sporty items with more everyday clothes. This stage in my life was and is my sweet spot. If you’re anything like me, you don’t mind rocking different brands like Nike and Adidas, and you have no shame in pairing a fresh pair of shoes with a more casual look for a day of exploration. A lot of the people that I look towards for inspiration do a contrasting sporty look with ease and I give them props for it. It may seem super simple but I think it really has to do with your personality and how your choices project your style to the people around you. There are a couple dope bloggers or Instagram feeds that you can follow that do this look well. Have no fear in style, sport it like you mean it. And if anyone questions you about what you have on, remind them you’re in California and we do what the hell, when the hell we want. Ha!
Baby Let's Getaway!
Getaway.
In the midst of the everyday Los Angeles “Rat Race” I feel like it’s a necessity to just get away! It’s summer and we all naturally want to bottle up our issues and dilemmas, put a cork in it, and toss them in the nearest body of water never to be seen again. The summer is naturally a family vacation season, but those of us who don’t sit atop a large lump some of money that will take us to a far away Italian beach; need a getaway a little closer to home and a fool proof game plan. With that in mind, I have put together a couple tips and options that are summer centric and budget friendly. So lets get started…
- The best “Getaway” is spent with the people you love, and of course get along with. So, leave that friend that constantly complains and or the cousin that you can’t necessarily stand at home!
- Getaways go hand in hand with bomb food! If you’re anything like Melissa and I… you’ve done your homework on where to dig in. You already have the best eatery in mind with a good back up, or you’ve jam packed a picnic basket with all of your favorite goods artfully prepared.
- Make sure you dress the part. If you know the weather isn’t looking good then grab a lightweight jacket with spare options for lesser-prepared compadres. The perfect outfit with audible components is clutch for a long day out in about.
- Don’t forget the activities! It’s okay to fly by the seat of your pants sometimes and often that kind of day is just what one may need. I’m just saying; if you know you’re going to a place where you need to provide your own entertainment, don’t forget the items that will keep you occupied. Everyone loves to relax with a good planner.
- Last but not least, remember to enjoy yourself. Whatever your own personal getaway may be, take the time to embrace the moment…tomorrow is never promised.
Some of my favorite budget friendly getaways are hella cliché, but who cares…whatever floats my boat at the moment! Peep some of my favorite spots below…
