A major part of curating the perfect wardrobe is finding the perfect balance. This sort of "balance" is totally dependent on your interest or personal style but none the less this concept does actually exist and can apply to your closet. For me a good balance is new with a good amount of used or what I would call "vintage originals." Trust me when I say that the closets of your older siblings, parents, and even grandparents are filled with GOLD. This gold can be in the form of legit vintage jewelry they are willing to part with, well kept items that are now considered "fashion forward", and nostalgic items that no one in the world thinks is cool but you. Mel and I have always been super adventurous so we are never scared to graze the racks of the local goodwill, thrift shop, garage sales or go trekking through the closets of our loved ones for something special. This adventurous spirit has landed us a good amount of items like a vintage YSL cross-body, a serious collection of MJ memorabilia, and quite an extensive snap back collection (for a girl that can barely fit a hat over her head, ha.) I've also learned that sometimes your man's closet has just as many good options as your own. Don't be afraid to grab his favorite elementary school basketball jersey, a matching cap, some ripped jean shorts and hit the Venice Beach before it's too late... We ain't mad at chu.
