Moving might possibly be the worst process ever. There can't be a soul that would enjoy this process! But I am going to make a conscience effort to make this post as positive as possible. If you are already apart of my life you may know that I have recently took the giant leap of moving out of my parent’s house, again. Note, that I have done this before for college but happily returned to the comfort of my mother’s house after graduation in Denver, Colorado. Melissa and I have been talking about moving for quite a while and I suspect that she will be ranting on this same subject soon! My girl is working hard, staying motivated and you can never hate on a hustle like that. We are trying to get our lives together these days and I have a feeling some big things are on the horizon for 2Some…just wait on it. I wasn’t able to dream up some large research based post for this week but I wanted to make sure I checked in to let y’all know how things are going. It seems that the only thing I truly miss is my other half (Ms. Naimi) and my mother’s fully stocked kitchen with all the bells and whistles. Last week I posted a bunch of creative spaces that I am in love with and I look forward to showing you what my roommates and I do with our new space by the beach. Fred seems to be obsessed with the “mood” of his space (meaning ambiance) instead of the actual furniture he needs to function properly…Ha! And Donnel, well he can survive anywhere with an Xbox and a TV. He seems to be content with the space so far and I look forward the space perfect for us, no doubt. Peace for now!
Inspiring Creative Spaces
A lot of us run away from home and head towards local coffee shops in order to escape into the creative spaces in our minds. But what if you had this space at home? Having a convenient place to escape to in the comfort of your own home is something that not all of us get to enjoy. But if there ever comes a moment where you’re able to snag a space and make it your own, I say make sure you’ve done your homework. There are tons of resources that you can utilize in order to build your creative space, but in reality this is hard to do if you don’t already have the space in mind. When it comes to interior designing I feel like certain spaces will show you the way. A lot of our dwellings have certain characteristics that echo in the space from the decades before you were able to call them home, and others are bleak, dull, and beg for you to fill the space with life and character. It is true that there are no perfect recipes to the perfect creative space because we are all unique and inspired by a mother load of different things. There are a couple characteristics that pop out to me when I consider building a creative space for myself…
1. The space can be small. I don’t need too much space but of course would never turn that opportunity down,
2. Black and white with a pop color brought to the space by the use of objects like plants, books, and ornaments.
3. Storage and Shelving. With years of different projects and experiments I have accumulated tons of “STUFF”
4. A nice blend of new and old. New things make your space functional, and old things give your space a bit of originality.
5. Inspiration and motivation. I like to surround myself with pure positivity. This comes from displaying the work of others who influence me and the presence of the culture you pull ideas from.
Here are some spaces that you can pull inspiration from; we all need a little inspiration sometimes. Click the image to view and see source. Happy Designing!
